The Streak is Over

Well, our close to 10 year streak is over. What streak you ask? Oh, just the streak of our kids not writing on the walls or furniture. Yep, you guessed it. Sophie got her little hands on a black magic marker yesterday and, shall we say, exercised her creative muscles.

Yep, the new baby grand. She went all the way around the black part as well.

Piano bench.

Banisters on both sides.

Garage doors and walls (also walls to the side that you can't see).

The ottoman.

The familyroom cabinets.

Oh my goodness! One might ask, "Where was the mother when this was going on?" Upstairs, of course, trying on the silly blouse I've been making, and making alterations to it. I came down the stairs and first saw the piano--I figured Sophie got one of Abby's WASHABLE markers, but to my utter disbelief I found her holding the magic marker. Sounds of grief and horror came out of my mouth that I've never heard before--neither had Sophie. Scared her to death! After about 10 minutes of shock I began to calm down and make calls to find out how to clean the mess up--I didn't have high hopes. However, I was able to clean the piano with rubbing alcohol--came right off. The piano bench and banisters I cleaned with a white magic erase sponge. The walls and doors don't have such a happy ending--anything that takes off the marker also take off the paint. So, we get to paint! I haven't had much luck with the ottoman either--I may have to have that reupohlstered. Oh well, it was a good run anyway--10 years ain't bad.

Oh my gosh!!! I am full on, laughing my head off right now - mixed with horror of course. I guess you've got to hand it to her, when she does something, she does a first rate job - no beating around the bush.

Honestly, one of the most classic blog posts...ever!

I can NOT believe that!!!! She truely went to town on your house!!! Oh my gosh!!! HAHAH!!! I'm sure you don't think it's that funny but I kind of do. I guess have ten years something was bound to happen!

I guess all of my parents cursing Bill with getting a child like him, something was bound to happen. Granted Bill never drew on things, but with such well mannered kids, they were bound to do something. I really am sorry about all of that, she got ALOT of surfaces! I am with everyone else, that is kind of funny...

Way to have a good attitude about it. I had an anxiety attack as I was reading it. I don't think I would have been such a kind mommy. I guess it's a good thing I don't have kids to test it on. Phew!

I don't even know what to say!!!! I can only imagine what came out of your mouth. I think I would do the same. She really went to town with the house. From one clean thing to the next. I guess all markers should be thrown out. I am so sorry. At least it was not a head through the wall. Remember Bill???

Oh dear, the pictures really don't do justice to Sophie's artwork. I'm glad I got to see her "masterpieces" in person.

Good Luck with the cleanup!
