What a Makeover!

So, I was looking at my niece, Jamie's blog one day, and she posted about one of the many awesome makeovers she's done in her house. This particular one was her powder room--she painted the cutest stripes you've ever seen. Well, I had been wanting to change my powder room for quite some time--I was getting tired of the red. I got right on the phone and called Jamie up begging for her help. She was more than happy to do so even when she found out I've never painted before. In hind sight it's a dang good thing I had never painted before otherwise I would have never taken on this project!

I have really loved the red, but it was time for a change. It was SO dark in there!

After I had painted 3 coats, yes that's right I said 3 coats of white on the walls and ceiling, enter cute Jamie to help me tape the walls for stripes!! This was the worst job EVER!! We spent almost 5 hours, yes that's right I said 5 hours taping! Not just anyone would come hang out in a teeny-tiny bathroom hunched over a toilet with me taping! Love you Jamie! Thanks a million!

After I pulled the final piece of tape off the wall and the stripes were done, I was so exhausted I couldn't even enjoy my stripes! But now that I've done all the touch ups (atleast all the touch ups I'm going to do) and put the bathroom back together, I LOVE it! It's a completely different room! I don't know if I'll ever paint again, but I'm glad I painted the stripes! What do you think?

That looks darling! Painting is about the most under appreciated pain in the--where was I going with this--oh yes. It is a ton of work! (Can you tell who is the painter at our house?) I'll bet you smile every time you walk by it now. What fun!

It looks so good! I love that you call it a powder room, I just call it a half bathroom.

Let me go pick my jaw up off the floor! I turned out absolutely fantastic!!! It looks amazing with everything back in there. I hardly recognize it. I LOVE how the color turned out as well. Love that it's warm, but a subtle contrast. Nice work!!! Honestly, so cute!

And thank you for posting that picture of me loving on the toilet. That is a beautiful sight.

Now I'm going to lay down since I'm tired remembering all those stripes and tape.

Love, love, LOVE it!!!

I love your new bathroom. Way to take on a new project. It is so much lighter. I am sure you will love it. Isn't nice to have someone do the grunt work for you?

Ok. Just read my comment and when I said "I turned out...", what I really meant to say was that IT turned out fantastic.

Very Very cute!!! I really like how much lighter it is! And even the stuff you put back on the walls looks new because of a differnt background!! Really, I love it! Maybe all the Johnson relatives will end up with stripes in at least one room of their house....

it's only a pain because it was DARK red underneath. Painting is fun. You had to pick the hardest thing to do... STRIPES... wow... you have guts. It turned out darling!!! I'll bet it makes the room look a lot larger. Who helped you pick the paint???

Love the Powder room! You guys did an awesome job in there. My Powder room is just the same, but the stripes are verticle, but they look the same color. I'm still very impressed. I didn't do ours, it came that way. You are amazing.

That brightened up the room so much! And I love the horizontal stripes! I always think of having them vertical, but I think the horizontal ones make the space seem bigger! Love the new look!
