Oh, What a Fun Day

I personally consider a day filled with shopping to be a complete joy and success. So, I went shopping today with my cute sister-in-law Celeste, her daughter NATlie, and Abby. We went to TJ Maxx, a favorite of mine, and found all kinds of goodies (pictured below). Anyway, as many of you know I have a small foot, and in America if you don't wear atleast a six you are not considered an adult. Enter me with my size five and we have a problem, so I make it a point to support those companies who make size five shoes (much to Bill's chagrin). It's the principal of the thing don't you think??? Take a look at these CUTE silver sandals and you'll see why I had to support that shoe company!

As you can see the shoes were a no-brainer, especially at $12.99, along with the blouse (also $12.99) and the $9.99 basket to put next to my bed for magazines and books. I love a successful shopping trip.

When we got home we had lots of fun showing our husbands our bargains.



Then this little one woke up and we found her fixing her hair in the mirror with a bottle brush. Love it! A great end to a perfect day!

Gotta Love a Girls' Weekend!!

So I was lucky enough to get to go with the girls up to Sharon's cabin in Midway!! No kids, no worries, no problems...only fun and relaxation!!! We left Friday morning and came back Saturday evening and all we did was eat, shop a little, talk and eat some more!!! We didn't even get out of our jammies until about 3:00 in the afternoon on Saturday. That is my kind of weekend. Thanks to Sharon for taking us up there to her fabulous cabin and we missed, of course, Karen and Gayla!! Thanks to Bill as well for taking care of the kids!

4th of July (better late than never!)

Don't ya just love summer and the 4th of July?? We started the day out with the Evergreen Parade, of course! The kids decorated their bikes and rode the route. Sophie was the life of the party waving like a princess (elbow, elbow, wrist, wrist, wrist) to all the people watching and yelling, "Hi!"





After the parade we got a last minute invite to go up to Kent and Celeste's house in Midway. All of their kids were in town so we had a fun day of swimming, eating, tennis, more eating and of course fireworks!


This is as close as Sophie would get to any kind of fireworks. When the big ones started that night, I had to take her inside she was so scared!

After all the festivities the kids passed out in the car on the way home. Thanks to the whole Kent Johnson family!! We had a blast and it was so good to see all of you! Love you!

What a Makeover!

So, I was looking at my niece, Jamie's blog one day, and she posted about one of the many awesome makeovers she's done in her house. This particular one was her powder room--she painted the cutest stripes you've ever seen. Well, I had been wanting to change my powder room for quite some time--I was getting tired of the red. I got right on the phone and called Jamie up begging for her help. She was more than happy to do so even when she found out I've never painted before. In hind sight it's a dang good thing I had never painted before otherwise I would have never taken on this project!




I have really loved the red, but it was time for a change. It was SO dark in there!


After I had painted 3 coats, yes that's right I said 3 coats of white on the walls and ceiling, enter cute Jamie to help me tape the walls for stripes!! This was the worst job EVER!! We spent almost 5 hours, yes that's right I said 5 hours taping! Not just anyone would come hang out in a teeny-tiny bathroom hunched over a toilet with me taping! Love you Jamie! Thanks a million!

After I pulled the final piece of tape off the wall and the stripes were done, I was so exhausted I couldn't even enjoy my stripes! But now that I've done all the touch ups (atleast all the touch ups I'm going to do) and put the bathroom back together, I LOVE it! It's a completely different room! I don't know if I'll ever paint again, but I'm glad I painted the stripes! What do you think?

50th Anniversary...

As promised here are a couple of family pictures from my parents' 50th anniversary. I don't care who you are, 50 years is a lot of time to be with one person, and I am so proud of my parents for making it seem so effortless. They made our childhood feel safe and we never wanted for anything. In our adult years they have supported and encouraged us through our trials and successes. I only hope that I can raise my kids to feel the same way I do and that Bill and I will one day celebrate our 50th. Bill will be 85, so I hope we make it!

Thank Goodness for Dads!!

I let Father's Day come and go without taking a single pic, so I chose to post this one because I love it of Bill! (you have to enlarge it to truly see the joy on his face). This picture says it all about him! He is always so excited to play with the kids! In fact he IS one of the kids--they love him so much and have such a good time together. I just wanted to tell Bill how much I love him and how glad I am he is their dad--we couldn't ask for a better one!

The Craziness is Over!

Oh, I've been such a BAD blogger!! The older the kids get, the busier the end of May and beginning of June get. Not to mention my parents' 50th anniversary was on the 12th of June! I'll just give you a quick run down of our activities the last couple of weeks.


Abby had her dance recital at Kingsbury Hall and did a fabulous job! We are so proud of our little dancer.


Jake and his baseball team played in the championship game for their pony league. They were undefeated all through the series until they played the only undefeated team during the season. They played a great game and won second place. Congrats, Jake!


Sophie got her first real haircut. I've cut it several times since she's been a baby, but now that it's getting longer she needed a real cut! Thanks, Julie--it's darling!


Then came the last day of school. Abby and Jake have loved their teacher, Mrs. Fackler. They'll miss her a ton!


Also on the last day of school there was an assembly to present kids (mostly 6th graders) with awards. Each class awards 2 students a citizenship award for the year, and these two cuties earned it. We are so proud of them for all their hard work! Their teacher was so complimentary on how they are not only good friends to others, but also to each other! Congrats Jake and Abby! Love you!


In the midst of all the craziness, my daughters found time to cook the family some scrambled eggs for dinner! Thanks, girls!

Then came the festivities for my parents. We had a family bbq the night before with games, a campfire since it was so dang cold, and homemade ice cream. The next day we went to the Blue Boar Inn in Midway for a big luncheon. My brother from Denver and sister from California came in so we were all together for the first time in a long time. We got together that night for family pictures thanks to some good friends in the ward who should be photographers (thanks Chad and Kim!!)


Matching dresses for the family pics. In the middle of all the "to do" I was sewing dresses for me and the girls. I should have thought twice about making the dresses since I was already strapped for time, but they turned out darling!

Whew! So that's it! I've finally been able to breathe and even take a nap here and there!
